ADVISEES PAST AND PRESENT
At Texas State University, my main role is that of an administrator (Dean of The Graduate College). However, I would be more than happy to work with Texas State undergraduate students on their honors thesis projects and with master's students provided their interests lie, broadly speaking, in the field of (German) applied linguistics or conversation analysis. I also consider serving as an outside committee member for master's and doctoral students at other universities provided their research topic is in conversation analysis.
My overall goal in mentoring students is to provide them with an insight into as many aspects as possible of what it means to pursue a career as a teacher and/or scholar in academia, while also exploring career options outside of academia. I strongly believe in helping students discover their strengths, develop their own interests, and pursue a career path that is right for them. I strive to provide and open, nurturing, and collaborative learning atmosphere.
